Continuing on from the "a quick hello" thread ...

Yeah PERL doesn't look too inviting, it's just that some of the applications in the INN software are written in PERL and therefore more accessible. But have been looking at some PHP examples that also parse Usenet headers, so I may get away with using that.
I've had other things to worry about ... like getting my system going again after an update ... Decided on 4 hard drives (Seagate is indeed very quiet, though the Serial ATA ones are a little noisier (possible due to higher speeds)). Added a graphics card to make working in 3D(for OpenGL animating and AutoCAD) a little more manageable. I even installed a second windows XP, so I still could work with the old version , just in case. But then I installed Debian Sarge, and somehow managed to obliterate the bootloader of Windows by writing Linux's GRUB on top of it (even though the manual stated GRUB would safely install next to the Windows bootloader). Though I suspect I may have mixed up my harddrives... All would be easy if I had the original XP disc, which you need alongside the recovery disc ... which I haven't got... You get my drift ... I stuffed up.

With only me to blame unfortunately ... though it's tempting to join the bandwagon and claim Debian a bitch to install ... Here I was, juggling around with boot partitions... thinking the installation procedure of Debian would take care of things.

Found a nice tool on the net, called 'mbrtool' which I've been playing around with, so far unsuccessfully ... though I'm learning quite a bit about MBR's, at least in the case of MS Windows.
